Howard Gwynn's collaboration with federal law enforcement partners has been extraordinary. In every case, he's focused entirely on justice: where and how justice would be best served for the victims and the community. He consistently worked with federal, state, and local law enforcement to investigate and prosecute cases. Together we have prosecuted murderers, robbers, gun traffickers, interstate drug dealers, fraudsters, and those who prey on our children. I believe our joint efforts have made Newport News safer.

I've personally long admired your common-sense approach to criminal prosecution. You advocate for victims but treat every defendant as an individual, extending grace and second chances when appropriate, but also argue for significant punishment when needed. These values have been imbued in all of your staff that I've known. I am grateful for your partnership during my tenure with the United States Attorney's Office.
